iPhone and iPad apps for art students

I thought I’d write a quick blog post about the apps that I find invaluable for my college work, because others might find it useful…

The nine apps listed below are the apps I use everyday that make college work flow, whilst keeping me up to date with what is going on.

In no particular order, they are…

Evernote
Brilliant for note taking, keeping articles from websites organised. Clip images and annotate them. Create folders to store and organise everything.

Pinterest
Fantastic way of quickly storing visual imagery for inspiration and research. Pins can link through to source articles for later review.

Twitter
Keep up to date with galleries, artists, exhibitions, local art groups etc

WordPress
Manage your wordpress blog. The wordpress app is easy to use and with the ability to speak into your iPhone and have it type what you have written, you don’t have to try and type it up on a fiddly keyboard. It is amazingly accurate! I used it to dictate the first couple of paragraphs of this post.

Feedly
Keep up with your favourite blogs and store them within categories. Visually appealing and nicely laid out.

Photogene
A great app for resizing and manipulating images for your blog, Evernote, Pinterest etc

IDB
Fantastic database for categorising suppliers, or referencing collections.

Dropbox
Move files between devices and your desktop computer.

Pages
Perfect for typing up research and critical reviews etc you can also dictate to it like the wordpress app. Export as word or PDF files.
